Traditional video analytics operates on individual video streams in isolation, detecting events like someone crossing a "virtual tripwire", via sophisticated video signal processing. These products are tactical point solutions: good at the task they are assigned, but not providing a strategic picture of the network as a whole.
Snap provides that strategic picture: based on the information it gathers about the relationships between cameras' fields-of-view, Snap can link multiple video data sources into a single coherent information source. Snap complements traditional analytics and can also enhance analytic functions by providing analytics processing with multiple points-of-view of a target, giving the opportunity to reduce the false alarm rate in the analytics system.
